Russell County Public Schools is pleased to announce starting on Monday, September 28th all Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students have the option to return to school four (4) days per week. Staff have been closely monitoring the transportation loads over the opening two (2) weeks of the school year. This, accompanied with evaluating the capacity in the affected rooms and the flexibility of staffing, has driven this opportunity. This will afford parents/guardians the flexibility to have their child attend in any of the three (3) models, 100% remote, Hybrid, or 4 days per week. Parents/guardians of K-3 students can expect to be contacted by their child's teacher to answer any questions and determine what model the parents/guardians have chosen for their child.

Russell County Public Schools, in partnership with the Board of Supervisors, the Southwest Virginia Workforce Development Board, Southwest Virginia Community College, and the United Way of Southwest Virginia is pleased to share the establishment of a temporary Learning Center/Daycare program for students of RCPS on the hybrid model or the 4-day per week model and children of employees of Russell County. This program will be at the Russell County Government Center beginning on Monday, September 28th. It will be available for students in Pre-Kindergarten through 7th grade and will operate from 7:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. daily. For details and to register your child, contact Mrs. Street, Elementary Supervisor and Director of Federal Programs at (276) 889-6510.
